Today I’m joined by the excellent comedian and writer Simon Evans to talk about Bret Easton Ellis’s book The Shards, along with various related literary topics.
We rate the book vs the TV show, and discuss the death of the ‘monoculture’, the nature of nostalgia, unreliable narrators, metafiction and genre, and much more.
I liked the book a lot more than Simon, but that made the conversation even more interesting. Hopefully you will agree.
Even if you haven’t read the book, I think you will enjoy this, though there are some spoilers.

Best,
